Dear Moms,
In this fast-paced world of never-ending news, social media posts, and hyper-scheduled days, it’s so easy to feel like we’re not measuring up to all the moms out there who seem to be doing everything perfectly.
Can I tell you a secret?
You’re doing a wonderful job.
Seriously.
You may get down on yourself because you forgot to replace the diapers in your bag, or you haven’t managed to take a shower for longer than you care to admit, or you made mac and cheese three meals in a row; I’ve been there.
There may be nothing more humbling than the moment you realize you just can’t be Supermom.
But once I hit that moment, I discovered something even better.
Myself.
My sons love nothing more than spending time with me. They love to be silly and wild and ridiculous and inquisitive.
And the best thing I can do for them is to be in the moment with them.
Sometimes that’s making cookies at six in the morning; other times it’s searching the web to find out everything I never wanted to know about worms.
It usually means something is left undone, but at the end of the day, when they’re fast asleep in their own beds, I never find myself wishing I’d spent less time with them and more time doing chores.
Today, and every day, I hope you find a moment to celebrate the quiet – and often unsung – bravery of motherhood.
May your day be filled with the wonderful sounds and activities of children, and may you feel reassured that child’s play is important.
Be you bravely,
Deeanne
